01 · Guide notes

Check the host first

What to know

A player cannot join correctly if the host has not finished entering the world. Ask the host to confirm that the world is active and to look for any connection warning on their side.

If the host is offline, stuck during loading or using an incompatible version, repeatedly entering the same Join Code will not solve the underlying problem.

02 · Steps

Official connection checklist

What to know

The safest sequence comes from the official FAQ. Work through it in order and retest after each meaningful change rather than changing several settings at once.

  1. Confirm the host is inside the world
  2. Check the internet connection on both devices
  3. Fully close and restart the game for host and guest
  4. Compare game versions; the first two version sections must match
  5. Create or share a fresh Join Code
  6. Retry from the supported friend or Join Code flow

Cross-platform and Mac notes

What to know

Windows, Mac, PS5 and Switch 2 can play together, but compatible versions still matter. An update that has reached one platform and not another can temporarily prevent a group from joining.

The Mac App Store version may not show Game Center friend rooms in the same way players expect. The official alternative is to use a Join Code rather than assuming the world is unavailable.

What not to do

What to know

Do not download an 'online fix', unknown DLL or modified executable. Do not disable security software or delete a save because a multiplayer room fails to appear.

If the official sequence does not help, record the platform, full version, host platform, error text and the exact stage where joining fails. That information is more useful for support than an unsourced registry or firewall recipe.

What this guide does not claim

Community labels are not presented as official names. Approximate coordinates stay marked as approximate, version-sensitive facts need a publication-day check, and no unsupported platform, code, solo route or mod-only shortcut is invented.
